Funfilled Weekend

Friday after Mickey was home from school I picked her up to spend a fun weekend with us.

On the way home I told her all about our weekend plans.  When I mentioned we were going to church on Sunday.  She said aww is it going to be long?  I said well of course it is!  She reminds me so much of her mother.  When we went to church as a family, when the girls were young Erica always counted all the pages in the bulletin to see if it was going to be a long service.  Makes me smile.

Friday evening we just hung out at home.  She played the piano for us, I think it was Christmas songs is what she told us.

It was all cozy in her bedroom at bedtime.  I put up a little pink metallic tree with pink lights and little ornaments.  She loved it and slept with the little tree on all night.

After breakfast once again she played us some more music on the piano.  Then she and papa did shop shopping, while
I stayed home and made ham and bean soup.  Left over ham bone from Thanksgiving.  I love bean soup!

Once they returned home we ate lunch and then laid down for a short while (nap time)  I have been reading to her a very large book of Christmas stories that I read to my girls when they were little.  She is really enjoying it.

Once she woke up we made gingerbread cookies!  Need I say our house smelled wonderful!
Then we went up to our bedroom where we put up a Christmas tree.  I fluffed our fake tree, Mr. Man put on the lights and Mickey helped with the ornaments it looks much prettier in person this picture looks like we have a pink tree but it is purple lights.  I could try to take a better picture but I'm not...Please use your imagination.
After taco night we played a couple of games of Candy Land.  She is a much better sport at playing games then she was last year at Christmas.

We had a fun day indoors while it was cold and rainy outside.

All dressed up for church!  We didn't go to our church we have been thinking we need to change our church home and actually our church pastor wife is a pastor at another church and that is the one we went to visit.  We really liked this church it is more what we are used to back home in Minnesota.  We are going again next week they are only having one service after a café breakfast.  This is their special Christmas music service.  Which I will LOVE!  Mr. Man isn't into that very much he sometimes complains there is too much music in church.  But I will enjoy it!

Once we were home again it was time to decorate the gingerbread cookies we made on Saturday.

Mickey did a good job considering that tube was pretty hard to push the frosting out of.
Then Mr. Man took Mickey over to our next door neighbor's to see the bee wasp that is in their tree.  This picture doesn't show how big it really it. It is scary big!

I found it one day on our walk.  I heard a noise and stopped in the street to see what it was.  It was a buzzing.  Then I saw this!  But that isn't where the noise was coming from.  One of the kids that live in that house left a toy on outside and the battery must have been running low and making a noise.
Later in the day we headed off to Stone Mountain for the Stone Mountain Christmas.  While waiting in the ticket line this man was making bubbles to entertain the kids.  Some were quite large!  I only could think of how cold his hands must have been.  We did pick a cold night to go!  37 degrees.  Once upon a time this wouldn't have been so bad but we have adjusted to warmer temps and don't have the outdoor winter wear like we did in MN.  I sure could have used them this night.
 The decorations are so pretty

Carolers...I secretly was wishing I could be dressed in that garb and singing with them.  Then I also thought they dressed so nice back then.
We went to our first show...The Polar Express 3D  Mickey sure enjoyed it.
On our way to an early dinner before everyone decided to eat we see Mrs. Claus so we stopped by so Mickey could say hello.  She told her to tell Santa she wants Monster High stuff.
We ate at the Campfire Grill.  Last year the restaurant was called Miss Katie's then I saw this summer they were changing I was not happy about this because I loved their menu.

But much to my surprise they just changed the name and the décor!  Our appetizer is fried pickles with ranch dressing! YUM!
It's evening before you know it and all the beautiful lights are on.

We went on a very cold train ride around Stone Mountain. I am glad I bought our picnic blanket from the car with us.

Darn we missed the parade because the train ran late!

We went to one more show it was Christmas over the years.  I liked this one too last year.  The other two shows would be too late for us since we still had to get Mickey home so she could get ready for bed and get a good night sleep for school.

What a fun wonderful weekend.  I know we had a busy weekend as it has taken me a day to recover!  I must be getting old!

I love making fun memories for Mickey.  I remember how much fun I had with my grandma and she still is the best grandma ever!  My mom wasn't very maternal and missed out on grandma time.  Mr. Man's mom did fun things with and for the kids, they liked spending special time with her.  Only with one complaint.  "grandma is kinda grumpy"  I smile as I write this.  I'm sure the kids drove her crazy.

It is one week until Christmas Eve and I feel good about where I am at.  I sent out gifts in the mail yesterday.  Wrapped all the gifts and they are now under the tree this morning.  Next is the baking then the grocery shopping.

Mickey said to me this weekend, "Mimi I can't wait for Christmas"  I said "Mickey to me this is Christmas.  It is the journey leading up to Christmas"  she doesn't get it yet but these are the learning years.

Until later!
Hugs,
Tania
