My Birthday

It was my birthday a couple of days ago.  The first thing I did when I woke up was grab my IPad and went to facebook.  I saw several birthday wishes already.  One asked if I was 29 again?  Then asked how old are you?  As I was getting my day going I gave it some thought.  How old am I?  How old would I want to be?  Wow, not what I really wanted to think about but there it was!  It was interesting to me to know where I would reset. What's your reset?

The picture above is a tea cup a friend gave me several years ago, and the flower tea ball Candi gave me for Christmas this year.  It makes it a little more fun to have a cup of tea.
I have been eating more oatmeal for breakfast. (in my Myrtle Beach bowl)  I have a physical coming up and they say oatmeal lowers your cholesterol.  Not that mine is high that I know of.  But I know my blood pressure was a little high but not enough for like meds just diet change.  I have too much sodium in my diet so I needed to change my sodium intake as well. (per prior appt.)

Well sodium diet went out the widow on Super Bowl Sunday!  Mr. Man and I aren't sports watchers, except I do watch the winter Olympics, so much that I will record what I miss.  But with all the great snack foods that everyone is talking about we just couldn't miss out just because we don't watch sports.

So Sunday after our walk in the park I made this super nacho for lunch.  Mr. Man was happily surprised since I didn't tell him what I was doing in the kitchen.  My man loves a good snack!

I had a nice birthday day.  I went to IHOP and had a free pancake breakfast, then I went to my favorite antique shop to be inspired, on my way home I picked up my free birthday lunch at Moe's.

Mr. Man planned to take me to Joe's Crab Shack for a steam pot, which is my favorite but I opted for him to make me homemade lasagna since we will do seafood on Valentines day.  He did great!

Thanks for sharing my birthday!

Hugs,
Tania

Two Post In One Day!

When ever I go back to my home state of Minnesota 99% of the time we visit the cemeteries of family members.

I would feel so guilty if I didn't and the last visit there was so quick I didn't get a chance and felt the guilt since.

My mom and Tony (step dad) are at Hillside Cemetery it is a peaceful rolling hill type of place with beautiful head stones.

I had mentioned to Erica on this visit that when ordering the annual Christmas wreath for their grave I filled out a form for info because Mr. Man and I are looking into a space there hopefully very close to mom and Tony.  (Tony's mom and step dad are also in this cemetery.)

She wasn't sure if this was a good idea.  She suggested we really think about being so far apart from each other.  Such as if I were to go first she said dad would be so upset that you were up there in MN and he in GA because he would want to visit you and you'd be so far.  And if it was the other way around she said mom you know you would just move back because you would be there visiting dad all the time.

She does have a point.  I am a taphophile and so I have been to many cemeteries and love the quite peaceful ones the ones that you can personalize.  I was recently at one in NC were people planted flower gardens around their loved ones.

The other option we have first talked about was Fort Snelling National Cemetery since Mr. Man is military we could be there.  I like the idea but national cemeteries are so generic.  We both have many relatives at this cemetery as well.
This is still an option.  We have thought about just being here in GA because of transport costs but over all I think Mr. Man and I both want to be buried in our home state whether it is at a national or private cemetery.

I just know that after loosing both of our parents very different funerals and processes that Mr. Man once thought, like his parents he wanted to be cremated until he saw how my parents funerals were, with the open casket and a place to go back and visit like I do he said he wanted that for our girls it was much more meaningful.

We aren't judging the way they wish to go just our experience.

What a morbid subject huh?  What I meant to just say is we always go visit our family who had passed and this trip Mickey and Erica came with me and it was a very special time.

Have a great weekend!

Hugs,
Tania
